Hopkins Street Bakery
A full line of breads, sweet rolls, cookies, muffins,
and desserts are offered, all baked on the premises.
The items here satisfy the sweet tooth, while seeming
to be generally healthy and nourishing. Fat and sugar are used sparingly in the
baking. These goodies avoid one extreme of the heavy country bran muffin, as
well as the other extreme of a delicate sugar cookie. Just right, for many.
This is one of the few bakeries that takes the little
items--sweet rolls, muffins, scones, etc.-- seriously. Choose the pear-ginger
muffin, almond croissant, cranberry scone, cheese Danish, or many more. Their
plain croissant has the essential buttery crust, at a reasonable price. (Heat
this in the toaster oven.). Sometimes they have a midget blueberry pie.
Chocolate lovers will want to try the bagatelle du roi.
